in Montreux CD 1: Tribute To Nesuhi / CD 2: Brazilian Nights ACT 9001-2 (2 CD Set) ACT is proud to announce the release of Live In Montreux a double-CD compilation which we believe is destined to become a coveted collector's item. CD 1, titled Tribute To Nesuhi, is an album presenting eleven historic tracks from the memorable 23rd Montreux Festival in July 1989, when the participating artists paid tribute to Nesuhi Ertegun, chairman and founder of WEA International, who had died on July 15 of that year. It is a measure of the high esteem in which Nesuhi Ertegun was held by musicians everywhere that the festival artists elected quite spontaneously to dedicate their performances to his memory. Ertegun had earned the status of a legendary figure in the jazz world - a man whose discovery of jazz as a teenager was to shape the rest of his life. He became totally dedicated to the music and once observed: "Jazz is an important musical form, whether there is a big public demand for it or not. l will always sign new artists and continue to work with established ones." Ertegun was an enthusiastic supporter of the Montreux Festival from the very beginning and his unwavering commitment played a significant part in establishing the event as one of the world's most prestigious music festivals. Special highlights of a CD which really contains nothing but highlights include: * A duo

This Is The End Of A Beautiful Friendship Claude Nobs was one of the first people on the European festival circuit to recognize the growing international importance of Brazilian music and its natural affinity with jazz. And this year's festival will be the 20th successive event featuring Brazilian artists. In honour of this anniversary, CD 2 of the Live In Montreux package presents a superb collection of 13 live performances recorded between 1979 and 1990. Artists featured include the late Elis Regina with Hermeto Pascoal (who were the first Brazilians to appear in Montreux - in 1979), Milton Nascimento, Ivan Lins, Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso.
